The scholars engaged in a day of mindfulness, mental health discussions and life lessons. MBK fellows shared their experiences and participated in activities to enhance their team building and communication skills. Special guest Dr. Aneal Alston, New York State Education Department Assistant Commissioner spoke to the scholars about exploring their passion – learning everything you can about it and discovering your purpose. Dr. Alfonso Wyatt, author of The Madd Truth, shared powerful life lessons about having integrity and believing in yourself. Each scholar received an autographed copy of The Madd Truth. In the book, there is a component of each case study for the scholars to reflect on how that aspect related to their personal lives.
