RJK Builders Club celebrates a year full of service

Builders Club students pose The Robert J. Kaiser Middle School’s Builders Club held its annual end-of-year celebration and pizza party on Wednesday, June 12. Students munched on pizza and snacks as they watched a slideshow featuring  the club’s events and milestones of the past year. There was certainly plenty to reminisce over, as the Builders Club had participated in many initiatives to serve the greater community, including shopping at Walmart for needy families during the Christmas season, making greeting cards for veterans and persons in the Meals on Wheels program, decorating and hosting the annual Valentine’s Day Dance, participating in the WSUL Heart-A-Thon, visiting and bonding with the residents at the local nursing home and also collecting items and visiting their four-legged friends at the Sullivan County SPCA.

8th Graders Robert Pape and Violet Gorr pose The advisors of the club thanked the student leaders — President Kaylen Blackford, Vice President Robert Pape, Secretary Leah Taggart and Treasurer Tanya Man—for their service over the past year and presented certificates of appreciation to those who were in attendance.

“We wish all of the eighth-grade students lots of luck and success as they begin high school,” Monticello Kiwanis/Builders Club Liaison Sheila Lashinsky said. “They were encouraged to join the high school’s Key Club and continue to serve their school and community, which in turn, helps to build character and leadership – traits that will certainly be beneficial to them all their lifetime.”
