KLR student tests positive for COVID-19; students/staff contacted

Español

Dear Monticello CSD Community Member,

This morning, we were informed that a student at Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19. This student was last in school on April 13, 2021. They were determined to have been in contact with 11 students and staff who, we believe, will most likely be quarantined.

The students and staff of this affected classroom will receive their instruction remotely through the end of this week, and tentatively return to KLR on April 26, 2021. After conferring with Sullivan County Public Health Services, we will keep KLR open for in-person instruction. All other in-person classes at KLR will remain in session and without interruption.

All areas of the school have been cleaned and disinfected, repeatedly, since April 13, and we’ll continue to clean and disinfect these areas consistent with our COVID-19 protocols.

We have reported those identified as possible contacts to Sullivan County PHS. KLR staff has also contacted all students and staff who have been tentatively identified as contacts of their exposure.

If you or your child are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home and contact your health care provider. For more information on contact tracing and illness management, please review the New York State Department of Health’s Pre-K to Grade 12 COVID-19 Toolkit.

We hope that all of you remain healthy, or, if sick, recover soon.

Stay well.

Mantenerse bien.
Con Orgullo Monti,
Matthew T. Evans, Ed. D.
