Trap team wraps up another successful fall season

Courtesy of Coach Jay Mendels:

The Panthers Trap Team wrapped up the fall season recently to complete our sixth year (and 12th season) as part of the New York State High School Clay Target League (NYSHSCTL)! This great program has introduced countless kids to firearm safety and the shooting sports. We’re proud to be a part of it!

Notables and awards:

  • 25 Club – Michael Feltman scored this season’s only perfect round!  Several others came very close – I have no doubt that next season will see more 25s!
  • 6 of our athletes finished with averages in the varsity (19+) range, and several others were within only a point or two!
  • 4 of our athletes ended in the top 25 for the whole conference – Michael Feltman, Jake Hovis, Caleb Hovis & Will Reilly!
  • Hi Average – Male:  Michael Feltman (Michael’s 23.1 average placed him in first place for our conference as well! See picture below)
  • Hi Average – Female:  Holly McFarland
  • Most Improved over last season:  Logan Brundage was named most improved – he had a great season and really brought his game up this fall!
  • Most Improved during the course of this season:  Kenny Walz not only had steady improvements in his scoring, but substantially improved his fundamentals, concentration, and consistency – way to go!
  • Coaches’ Award – Always a hard one to pick because so many of our students shine in so many areas, but we felt that Jaden Washington consistently demonstrated a dedication and enthusiasm for the team, sport and school.  Congratulations Jaden!
If any new students (grades 6-12, ages 12 and older) are interested in joining our club in the spring, please email Coach Jay Mendels at monticellotrapteam@gmail.com for additional info and to get on our waiting list.
