A message from Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Matthew Evans:
Dear Monticello CSD Community Member,
On Friday, December 18, the district was notified that a student at Robert J. Kaiser Middle School tested positive for COVID-19. The student attended the school earlier that day and was without any symptoms during the school day. We have tentatively identified 21 students and nine (9) staff members as direct contacts and have notified Sullivan County Public Health Services of the incident. These contacts will be notified by New York State Department of Health and will most likely be quarantined.
Due to this loss in staffing, and the need to clean and disinfect the affected areas, RJK Middle School will be closed on Monday, December 21 and Tuesday, December 22. All RJK students and staff are expected to work remotely on those days. Students will also receive remote instruction on Wednesday, December 23, as planned. Staff may return—if necessary—to gather any belongings or other work on December 23.
All other Monticello CSD schools will remain open. As a reminder, all students and staff are off on holiday break from December 24 through January 3, with classes resuming on Monday, January 4.

Estimado miembro de la comunidad de Monticello CSD,
El viernes 18 de diciembre, se notificó al distrito que un estudiante de la escuela intermedia Robert J. Kaiser dio positivo por COVID-19. El estudiante asistió a la escuela ese mismo día y no tuvo ningún síntoma durante el día escolar. Hemos identificado tentativamente a 21 estudiantes y nueve (9) miembros del personal como contactos directos y hemos notificado el incidente a los Servicios de Salud Pública del Condado de Sullivan. Estos contactos serán notificados por el Departamento de Salud del Estado de Nueva York y muy probablemente serán puestos en cuarentena.
