Our district mourns Joe Salthouse

Our Monticello Central School District family is in mourning today with the news of the death of Joe Salthouse, a beloved member of our security force at Monticello High School, RJK Middle School and Cooke Elementary School.

Joe was an amazing, well-loved person, and we know that his reach was far beyond just his work at these schools. He was always there for everyone in the district whenever he was needed with a warm, welcoming smile. He was a tremendous role model for our students. Our hearts are broken. Our condolences go out to Joe’s family and friends.

We will have a crisis team of school psychologists and social workers available at RJK Middle School for all district families, students and staff on Friday, June 28, 2019 starting at 9:30 in the morning through 2:30 in the afternoon to help our school family work through this tragedy. We will assess needs and expand hours releasing updated information as needed in the early afternoon.

Again, Joe impacted the lives of many and we are here, united in support for one another. Be well, and do not hesitate to reach out for support for yourself or to let others know of support that is available.
