Masks no longer required outdoors at MCSD

At its June 10 regular meeting, the Monticello Board of Education approved the following changes to the district’s Our Path Forward plan, effective immediately:

    1. Delete on p. 11 of Our Path Forward (2020–21), and all other instances the
following sentence, “Students and staff are required to wear face masks
whenever they are on school district property, including riding the school
      bus.”
    2. Add in its place, “Students, staff, and visitors are required to wear face
coverings whenever they are inside the district’s schools, offices and
buses. Students, staff, and visitors are not required to wear masks while on
district property when outside. No student, teacher, staff member, or visitor
may be prevented from wearing an acceptable face mask voluntarily on
      school grounds.”

These changes are in response to the New York State Department of Health’s updated guidance on in-person instruction (issued June 7, 2021)  and with feedback from each of the district’s school pandemic planning committees.
