District monitoring temperature conditions; heat policy in place

With temperatures expected to be quite high today and tomorrow, our administration and Buildings & Grounds team are closely monitoring weather conditions and the temperature inside our school buildings. While some surrounding areas are under weather advisories, at this time, there are no active heat advisories for Monticello, and normal school operations are expected to continue.

The district has a comprehensive Extreme Heat Conditions policy in place to help ensure students remain safe, comfortable, and ready to learn. If classroom temperatures reach designated thresholds, the district will implement appropriate measures, which may include increased ventilation, adjustments to classroom environments, additional water breaks, relocating students to cooler areas, or other actions as necessary. Read the full Extreme Heat Conditions policy here.

We also encourage families to have students dress appropriately for warm weather and bring a water bottle to school, if possible. Multiple water stations are available in each building.

Should conditions warrant additional action, families will be notified promptly.

Thank you for your partnership as we work to maintain a safe and comfortable learning environment for all students.
