Cooke Elementary School has been learning about what it means to be patriotic as part of the English Language Arts (ELA) curriculum. As part of the lesson on patriotism, the class invited a local veteran to visit. The high school’s School Resource Officer, Steven DeMestrio, visited the class to talk about his role in the National Guard and the different branches of the military. He captivated the students with stories and information about his experiences, deployments, and trainings over the years. The students asked so many interesting questions and really enjoyed his visit!
