An update from Dr. Silver regarding coronavirus

Dear Families,

A very short note to let you know that we are monitoring the Covid-19 situation closely, keeping the health and welfare of you, our students, and staff foremost in our thinking.  The guidance we are receiving from NYS Education Department and Department of Health is fluid and incomplete.  I believe that it is likely that we will be told to close schools at some point in the future, given the list of districts, colleges, and other institutions that have closed or suspended operations (including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the NHL, NBA and Major League Baseball, March Madness, local school districts (Pine Bush, Warwick) and the national decisions coming out of Washington (e.g., the travel ban from Europe).

In preparation for this, we will be asking teachers to survey their students on Monday to see who has Internet access when out of school.  This will allow us to maintain an interactive, real time educational program while we are closed.  We are also planning to provide a breakfast and lunch program similar to what we have during the summer, though perhaps with a different delivery system.

Hope you enjoy the long weekend.  Please review the letter I sent earlier in the week for guidance on germ hygiene, what you can do as families, and links for further information. I will provide more information early next week, or sooner, if there is breaking news.

Stay healthy out there!

Dr. Silver
