Bilingual story time and banana splits mark the end of the school year at SJS

On Tuesday, June 23, the St. John Street Community Preschool ENL 3-year-old class, led by Ms. Rios and Ms. Alberto, enjoyed a special end-of-year visit from EPIC.

Marta Mangual, Monticello Central School District’s Spanish Translator, and Jane Sorensen, EPIC Family Engagement Program Manager, led a bilingual story time, reading Why the Banana Split in both English and Spanish.

To celebrate the end of the school year, EPIC treated each student to a banana split ice cream sundae. The children also had fun dancing to “The Banana Split” song and were delighted by a surprise visit from a live banana character.

It was a memorable way to celebrate a wonderful school year together
