Kaiser Middle School and Monticello High School performing ensembles had the opportunity to work with members of the Fredonia School of Music, including percussion professor Dr. Kay Stonefelt. The day consisted of percussion and bassoon performances, interactive workshops, and opportunities to play alongside accomplished professional musicians. Junior Belle Zhou reflected on her experience after the event, sayingit was really cool to see different percussion instruments being played! I specifically enjoyed listening to the percussionists play on the ethnic instrument, balafon. I also loved how each person is passionate about music and expresses that through their playing.
