Updates to COVID-19 mitigation plan re: masks and contact tracing

On the evening of March 1, the New York State Department of Health released additional guidance related to the expiration of the expiration of the mandatory mask mandate. In light of this new guidance, the district has made the following changes to its COVID-19 protocol:

  • The district will no longer perform individual contact tracing. Instead, it will inform all students and/or staff members who have been in the same room or bus as a confirmed COVID-19 case of a possible exposure. These individuals, as long as they remain asymptomatic will not be required to quarantine. The district will recommend that they wear a well-fitting face covering while on school property for 10 days after exposure.
  • Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 will be required to wear a mask on day 6-10 of their isolation period if they are asymptomatic and able to return to school/work.
