Dear Monticello CSD Community Member,
Based on our contact tracing results from yesterday’s three cases at Robert J. Kaiser Middle School (RJK) and St. John Street School, we will need to switch RJK MS to remote instruction for the week of September 20 through September 24. The results showed approximately 42 students and six (6) staff were close contacts of these three cases, and will most likely be quarantined. We believe these numbers may increase.
With our remaining available staff, we would have 22 classes, per day, in RJK (grades 7 and 8), that would not have adult supervision. Like many school districts, we have very few available substitutes, and several vacant full-time positions.
All students in grades 7 and 8 should follow the remote instruction schedule on our RJK website. The St. John Street School (6th grade) and all other Monticello CSD schools will remain open to in-person instruction.
As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause, but we would not be able to safely supervise our students and maintain COVID-19 mitigation protocols in RJK MS.
