RJK/MHS have been cleared for reentry, and are expected to open tomorrow as scheduled

The Robert J. Kaiser Middle School and Monticello High School campus has been thoroughly inspected by law enforcement and determined safe for reentry.  Both schools are expected to reopen at their regularly scheduled times tomorrow, Thursday, November 13.

Out of an abundance of caution, additional law enforcement will be present at these schools tomorrow morning.  The principals will debrief their school safety committees for next steps with their students and staff.  Counselors will be available for any students who may be concerned or upset about this incident.

Law enforcement will continue its investigation and update us regarding its findings.  Should any student(s) be found to have been involved, disciplinary action will be taken consistent with our Code of Conduct.

School safety is always the district’s top priority, and we work diligently throughout the year to prepare for a variety of emergency scenarios. This preparation was evident in the professionalism of our administration, faculty, staff, and transportation department, who acted swiftly and effectively to ensure our students were safely cleared from the buildings and transported home. We are also grateful to our law enforcement partners who responded immediately to investigate this incident. And we are very appreciative of our students, parents, and caregivers for their patience, cooperation and understanding.
