Dear RJK Families,
Tomorrow marks the end of September, while none of us could have predicted a few months ago that we would launch this dramatic new transition in education, I could not be prouder of the way our educators and students have come together to implement hybrid learning. We know the challenges our students face and have been working to improve both in person and remote instruction.
The Monticello CSD throughout the school year will closely monitor local data to make decisions if the RJK Middle School will remain open to in-person student instruction. If the Sullivan County Department of Health recommends that the Robert J. Kaiser Middle School close, we wanted to provide parents with our fully remote schedule. It will be used for any day that we need to close the building. The fully remote schedule allows more opportunities for students to speak with their teachers throughout the day. If students are scheduled to receive in-person instruction (or synchronous remote instruction) on Mondays and Tuesdays, they should continue to follow that schedule remotely. On Wednesdays-Fridays, those students will work independently on asynchronous lessons. Likewise, students scheduled to receive in-person (or synchronous remote instruction) on Thursdays and Fridays, will continue to follow that schedule and work independently on asynchronous lessons on Mondays-Wednesdays. If your child is a Cohort C student and attending school Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, please reach out to your child’s teacher or counselor for specific information on days of synchronous instruction.
Your child’s schedule will be posted in their homeroom folder on TEAMS and is also available on our website. Each homeroom will have their own schedule. El DCE de Monticello durante todo el año escolar supervisará de cerca los datos locales para tomar decisiones si la escuela intermedia RJK permanecerá abierta a la instrucción estudiantil en persona. El horario de su hijo se publicará en la carpeta de su salón principal en TEAMS y en el sitio web del distrito en la Escuela Intermedia Robert J. Kaiser. Cada salón tendrá su propio horario.
