Positive COVID-19 case identified at the May 5 Board of Education meeting

Please be advised that if you attended the Monticello Board of Education meeting held on May 5 at the Robert J. Kaiser Middle School, you may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Monticello Central School District engages in group level contact tracing. Unlike individual level contact tracing, we do not definitively identify only those individuals who are within six feet of an infected individual. For group level contact tracing, a potential exposure is someone who has been in the same room or bus with an infected individual for more than 15 cumulative minutes over a 24-hour period.

Under that definition, if you attended the May 5 BOE meeting, you have been potentially exposed to an infected individual. The New York State Department of Health strongly recommends that you wear a mask (regardless of vaccination status) for 10 days after a known exposure. Additionally, NYSDOH strongly recommends that you test on Day 5 after exposure to detect infection among individuals identified as exposed or potentially exposed.

For Monticello staff/students:

If you develop symptoms, please stay home until you are symptom free for 24 hours AND have an alternative diagnosis OR a negative PCR test. If you test positive with either a home test or with a PCR, please contact your school nurse as soon as possible. With a positive test, an individual will need to isolate for five days and then mask for five days upon return to school.
