The Monticello Junior & Senior High Jazz Bands will be participating in the 28th Annual Liberty Jazz Festival on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, in the Liberty Middle School gymnasium (Snow date, Sunday, February 8th). The festival will feature High School and Middle School jazz ensembles from the Liberty, Monticello, Tri-Valley, Rockland, and Eldred school districts. The students will work with a renowned jazz artist during the day and the groups will collaborate for a concert at 7 p.m.
This year’s clinician is drummer Michael Berkowitz. Mr. Berkowitz brings with him a wealth of professional knowledge and experience, having led numerous orchestras including the Boston Pops, London Symphony, Cincinnati Pops and Pittsburgh Symphony. He is featured on recordings with Steve Lawrence and Placido Domingo, and has performed with Henry Mancini, Liza Minnelli, Billy Joel, Sting, Elton John, and Bette Midler.
The clinic will take place from 3-5:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Liberty Middle School Gymnasium. Admission for the event is $5, and tickets will be on sale in the lobby.
