Monticello High School student Evan Chen competed in the New York State Math League (NYSML) competition, an annual event held in Albany on April 18.
The competition brings together the top 300 math students from across New York State, who compete in divisions based on geographic regions. During the regular season, Evan competed as part of Monticello’s math team in the DUSO division, which includes schools from Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan and Orange counties.
Evan is the first Monticello High School student to qualify for the state meet in 20 years, a testament to his exceptional mathematical ability and dedication.
