Face coverings required in indoor spaces with students during summer months

Please be advised that face coverings continue to be required, regardless of vaccination status, in all indoor Monticello Central School District spaces where students are regularly present – including schools, offices and buses. Face coverings are optional for any vaccinated individual in any school, office, or bus where students are not attending (or expected to attend that day).

The district’s administration reached this decision out of concern for the health of students and staff.

“Our summer school staff and students chose to teach, work or enroll in our summer program with the understanding that face coverings were required,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matthew Evans said. “We will not make sudden adjustments that may deter families from sending in their children who are in need of in-person academic enrichment.”

The district expects these guidelines to remain in effect for the summer season (i.e. through August 31, 2021), and continues to await guidance from the New York State Department of Health in regards to requirements for the upcoming school year. We will update community via our website and SchoolMessenger notifications as soon as possible once these plans have been developed.
