Fred Stabbert III, publisher of The Sullivan Democrat visited students in Claire Humbert and Joana Dutcher’s classes at the George L. Cooke Elementary School last week. During his visit, he reviewed all the many different types of information shared through newspapers – from local news to recipes to the funnies.  Mr. Stabbert also introduced students to the many career options available at a newspaper, including reporting, sales and marketing, graphic design and more. He even gave students a demonstration of how newspapers were created before computers, showing off a vintage typewriter. Each student received a copy of the Democrat to help hone their reading skills and learn more about all the current happenings in Sullivan County.
