The students of Monticello Central School District dominated Sullivan County BOCES’ annual Cross-County Reading Challenge!

Our students collectively logged an impressive 6,727 books, demonstrating exceptional dedication, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for reading throughout the competition.

The results speak volumes about our district’s reading culture:

  • Chase Elementary — 1st Place, Small Elementary (3,120 books)
  • Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary — 1st Place, Large Elementary (2,048 books)
  • Monticello High School — 1st Place, Secondary (910 books)
  • Cooke Elementary — 3rd Place, Large Elementary (555 books)
  • RJK Middle School — 5th Place, Secondary (94 books)

This remarkable accomplishment reflects the hard work of our learners, the support of our families, and the commitment of our librarians and teaching staff to foster literacy across every level of our district. Congratulations and “well done” to all who made this feat possible!
