The Monticello Central School District Board of Education proudly recognized Robert J. Kaiser Middle School nurse Kim Werbalowsky with a Board Award at its March 19 meeting.

Ms. Werbalowsky was nominated by RJK Principal Sara Kozachuk for her exemplary courage, swift action, and unwavering dedication to student safety.
The nomination stems from an incident on Feb. 24, 2026, when a call came over the radio requesting immediate assistance for a choking student. Without hesitation, Nurse Kim responded, acting quickly and with remarkable professionalism. Her calm demeanor and rapid assessment allowed her to provide critical, life-saving care during a moment when every second counted.
Her actions not only ensured the safety and well-being of the student in crisis, but also reflected the highest standards of care and responsibility.
“Nurse Kim’s decisive response in a critical situation exemplifies the level of care and commitment we strive to provide for every student,” the district shared. “Her actions serve as a powerful reminder of the important role our staff play in keeping our schools safe.”
