Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School welcomes new assistant principal

Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School welcomed a new assistant principal this November, and although she’s only been in Monticello a few weeks, she’s already eager to dive into the work of supporting students, staff, and families. With two decades of experience in education and a strong belief in the power of community, Kimberly Ronaldson brings a warm, student-centered approach to her new role at KLR. We sat down with her to learn more about what inspired her to join Monticello, what she’s most looking forward to, and the experiences that shaped her along the way.

Why did you choose to apply to Monticello?

I applied to the Monticello School District because I admire its focus on helping every child succeed and its strong sense of community. I want to be part of a team that values students, families, and teachers working together. My goal is to create a positive, supportive environment where kids feel safe, learn, and grow every day.

What are you most looking forward to in this new role?

I’m most looking forward to building strong connections with students, families, and staff. Creating a safe, welcoming environment where children feel excited to learn is my top priority, and I can’t wait to work together to make that happen.

How has your previous professional experiences have prepared you for this role?

With 20 years of experience as an educator, I’ve learned what students, teachers, and families need to feel supported and succeed. I understand the challenges teachers face and how important teamwork and communication are. This experience will help me as an assistant principal because I can guide instruction, solve problems, and create a positive school environment where everyone feels valued.
