On Friday, Oct. 3, the Monticello Central School District held its twelfth-annual Hall of Distinction ceremony in the Arnold Packer Hughs Auditorium at Monticello High School. Two individuals were inducted as the Class of 2025, in front of their families, MCSD staff, the MCSD Board of Education and the Hall of Distinction Committee.

The inductees for the 2025 Hall of Distinction were:
- Daniel L. Briggs, Class of 1970
- Alex Cabrero, Class of 1993
The ceremony honored each inductee’s remarkable contributions to their respective careers, and to the Monticello community. Student musicians opened with musical and vocal performances, before Superintendent Matthew Evans welcomed the attendees to the ceremony. Andrew Maier, from Assembly Member Paula Elaine Kay’s office presented each inductee with a certificate of commemoration. John Conway, and Stacy Bank-Jackson who nominated Briggs and Cabrero, respectively, introduced each inductee, sharing personal memories and anecdotes. Each inductee then took the microphone to speak of the impact that the Monticello community had on their career, and their reflections upon receiving this honor.
Finally, Superintendent Evans and Board of Education President Tim Crumley unveiled the inductee’s plaques on the Wall of Distinction located, directly outside the auditorium, to a round of applause from all present. The plaques were hung alongside past Hall of Distinction honorees and commemorated the professional achievements of this year’s inductees. Similar to past honorees, the success of the Hall of Distinction, Class of 2025 is forever enshrined, serving as an inspiration for future Monticello generations.
