Dear Monticello CSD Families,
I hope this finds you well and enjoying your remaining days of summer. We have all been adjusting to life under the COVID-19 pandemic and are required to put the health and safety of everyone above all other priorities. I want to
assure you that our staff has taken on this challenge and continues to pioneer strategies to restore learning in 2020–21.
We also sadly acknowledge the lives lost due to this pandemic and offer our thoughts and sympathies for their surviving family members and friends.
The protocols and safeguards described in our school reopening plans are challenging and time-consuming. Our staff are modifying schedules, facilities, and buses so that all of us stay healthy to the greatest extent possible, while
restoring invaluable learning opportunities for our students. I appreciate your patience while we make these adjustments.
I ask that each of us commit to keeping ourselves, our students, and each other well. If your children are sick, please keep them home. And please encourage your children to:
- Wash their hands regularly—or use hand sanitizer if washing hands is not possible,
- Avoid touching their faces,
- Always keep a distance of six (6) feet between themselves and others (even when wearing a face covering),
and - Wear clean face coverings!
We ask that children bring and wear their own clean face coverings (from home). If necessary, we will provide face coverings to those students who forget theirs.
In June 2020, the Monticello CSD committed to antiracism, and pledged to “actively question our policies, procedures, and attitudes, looking for ways that we can reshape our institutional culture around an ethic of equity.”
Our reopening efforts have been shaped by this ethic, and we will continue to revise curricula and policies in 2020–21 with this necessary work in mind. I ask that each of us make regular efforts toward this overall goal of becoming an
antiracism district.
We have all been vigilant and patient to get to this point where in-person instruction is possible. I trust that you will join me in nourishing this opportunity, and in looking forward to a healthy and ever-improving 2020–21.

Espero que esto te encuentre bien y que disfrutes de tus días restantes de verano. Todos nos hemos estado adaptando a la vida bajo la pandemia de COVID-19 y debemos anteponer la salud y la seguridad de todos a todas las demás prioridades. Quiero asegurarles que nuestro personal ha asumido este desafío y continúa siendo pionero en estrategias para restaurar el aprendizaje en 2020–21.
También reconocemos con tristeza las vidas perdidas debido a esta pandemia y ofrecemos nuestros pensamientos y condolencias por sus familiares y amigos sobrevivientes.

Si sus hijos están enfermos, déjelos en casa. Y por favor anime a sus hijos a:
• Lávese las manos con regularidad, o use desinfectante de manos si no es posible lavarse las manos.
• Evite tocarse la cara,
• Mantenga siempre una distancia de seis (6) pies entre ellos y los demás (incluso cuando se cubra la cara), y
• ¡Utilice cubiertas faciales limpias!
Les pedimos a los niños que traigan y usen sus propios protectores faciales limpios (de casa). Si es necesario, proporcionaremos cubiertas faciales a aquellos estudiantes que se olviden de las suyas.
En junio de 2020, Monticello CSD se comprometió con el antirracismo y se comprometió a “cuestionar activamente nuestras políticas, procedimientos y actitudes, buscando formas de remodelar nuestra cultura institucional en torno a una ética de equidad.” Nuestros esfuerzos de reapertura han sido moldeados por esta ética, y continuaremos revisando los planes de estudio y las políticas en 2020-21 con este trabajo necesario en mente. Pido que cada uno de nosotros haga esfuerzos regulares hacia este objetivo general de convertirnos en un distrito antirracista.
Todos hemos estado atentos y pacientes para llegar a este punto en el quesea posible la instrucción en persona.
