Monticello Central School District (MCSD) has been informed that a Monticello High School student was injured in a shooting that occurred off-campus in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 30. Law enforcement is actively investigating the incident, and the district’s administration is in close communication with them. At this time, we are unaware of any connection of this shooting with our schools.
Any individual with information concerning the incident is encouraged to contact the police.
“The district’s top priority is student safety and well-being,” Superintendent of Schools Matthew Evans said. “We have made counseling available for any summer school students who may be impacted by this unfortunate event, and we send our hopes for a full recovery to the injured student and their family.”
