MHS Open House information (updated with Zoom link)

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

The high school faculty and administration cordially invite you to our virtual open house program on October 28th from 6:00-8:35 pm and hope that you will find the experience interesting and informative.  Please have your student help you navigate the class meetings through Microsoft Teams.

The purpose of this event is to provide you with an opportunity to become acquainted with the members of our staff, our programs of study, and specific course expectations and requirements in each subject area.  You will receive a brief overview of course content and have exposure to some of the technology and materials your student will be using.

Please be aware that our teachers have provided course requirements in the form of a syllabus and will be reviewing this material in class as you travel through your student’s schedule.  Any necessary changes to the course curriculum or expectations to stay in compliance with new regulations and standards from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) will be communicated.  Therefore, the course requirements that you have received and will hear about during the open house may be altered in the future, as we continue to make changes to align our curriculum with the new State Learning Standards and other NYSED regulations.

Time and purpose will not permit the opportunity to discuss a specific student’s progress with his/her teachers this evening.  However, we strongly encourage your participation in your student’s continuing educational development and welcome you to communicate with our faculty and staff as the school year proceeds.  Our Virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences will be November 23rd.  Information on how to schedule a conference will be forthcoming.

The activities for the evening have been planned as follows:

6:00-6:20: Informational meeting for all parents regarding our Title I status and Open House Process via Zoom.

6:20-6:25: Parents report to first period classrooms via Microsoft Teams

6:25-8:35: First period starts.  Then follow your student’s schedule and through the corresponding Microsoft Teams invitations.  Your  student will help you navigate the evening.

Please Note

Academic Workshops, Science Labs and Math Labs will not meet during Open House. 
 

As stated above, we strongly encourage you to communicate with the members of our staff throughout the school year.  Individual and case conferences may be arranged with teachers as needed.  We know that your involvement is one of the most important parts of your son’s/daughter’s success in school.  Please feel free to contact us whenever you have questions or concerns regarding your student’s progress.
