Jennifer Ducey and Jeff Danzer honored with Board Awards

The Monticello Central School District (MCSD) Board of Education is proud to recognize two outstanding educators—Jennifer Ducey and Jeff Danzer—as Board Award recipients. Board Awards recognize staff, students and community members who have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to the district.

Jennifer Ducey

Nominated by MCSD Director of Secondary Education Laura Zanrucha, Jennifer Ducey has been recognized for her tireless efforts as a school counselor and for stepping into the role of guidance department chair at Monticello High School. Her impact has been both immediate and enduring.

“Jennifer continually supports students, families, faculty, and administrators,” Ms. Zanrucha wrote in her nomination. “She works tirelessly to ensure that students are getting what they need both academically and social emotionally.”

Ms. Ducey’s leadership has been instrumental in fostering collaboration among department chairs and administration and enhancing educational experiences for students. Her personal dedication includes meeting with every student to discuss honors and acceleration options, leading to a noticeable increase in honors course enrollment. Ms. Ducey has also worked closely with administration to build schedules that maximize growth and success opportunities for our students.

“She is well respected by staff and is often the go-to person,” Ms. Zanrucha noted. “Jennifer demonstrates what a Monticello Panther truly is—student centered, supportive, and always willing to step in.”

Jeff Danzer

Monticello High School (MHS) social studies teacher Jeff Danzer was nominated by MHS Principal Jennifer Gorr, who praised his dedication to academic excellence and his visionary leadership in developing the district’s National History Day program.

“Jeff is an exceptional teacher who has worked tirelessly to build and grow our National History Day program here at MCSD,” Ms. Gorr wrote. “His efforts have been so impactful that, due to the program’s remarkable success over the past two years, we are now introducing a National History Day class for students next year.”

Danzer’s reach goes beyond the high school; he has collaborated with the middle school to extend program opportunities and build a strong academic pipeline. His passion for historical inquiry has encouraged students at all levels to engage meaningfully with the subject matter.

In addition to his curricular contributions, Danzer is recognized for his strong relationships with students and his willingness to go above and beyond. “He is always willing to take on extra responsibilities,” Ms. Gorr said. “Jeff’s hard work, enthusiasm, and commitment to student success make him truly deserving of this recognition.”
