Dear Monticello CSD Community and Staff,
We are aware of a recent state supreme court ruling that declared the Governor’s executive order on mask mandates in schools to be unconstitutional.
Since that ruling, we were advised by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) that an appeal from the Governor is imminent and that, “schools must continue to follow the mask rule.”
Masks, therefore, are still required to be worn at all times by students, staff, and visitors, while inside MCSD schools and facilities, except during meal breaks.
We are monitoring the situation closely. Should the district revise its mask mandate, it will inform you accordingly.
