Early dismissal Tuesday, June 24 due to extreme heat.

Due to anticipated excessive heat conditions, all Monticello CSD schools will dismiss three hours early on Tuesday, June 24.  Monticello High School and Robert J. Kaiser Middle School will dismiss at 11:15 a.m.; unless a student is scheduled to take an exam. The testing schedule will remain unchanged; students scheduled to take a Regents or final will take the exam in an air-conditioned room and be transported home.

St. John Street Prekindergarten will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.  Chase, Cooke, and Rutherford Elementary Schools will dismiss at 12:40 p.m.

The class of 2024 dedication scheduled for tomorrow at 4 p.m. is cancelled.

New York State passed a law last year that requires public schools to monitor heat conditions in classrooms and make efforts to cool classrooms once they reach 82°F.  Should classrooms or other instructional spaces reach 88°F, public schools are to consider evacuating those spaces and, when practicable, dismiss early.  The Board of Education’s recently adopted policy 8113 is fully compliant with this new law and details the steps we take on extreme heat days.
