Monticello voters approve 2017-18 budget
On May 16, Monticello Central School District voters approved the district’s $85,299,550 million 2017-18 budget proposal and elected three board of education members.
The following results are unofficial pending verification of the absentee ballots; however, the ballots have been reviewed and should not impact the final results.
Voters approved:
• An $85,299,550 budget for the 2017-18 school year that increases spending 1.38 percent ($1,559,936) and carries a 0.10 ($43,000) percent tax levy increase: 506 yes; 225 no;
Three incumbent candidates sought election to three Board of Education seats. They are, in ballot order:
- Scott Dorn 531 votes
- John Moul 522 votes
- Alyce Van Etten 592 votes
The terms are three years, beginning July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, 2020 and will be filled by Scott Dorn, John Moul and Alyce Van Etten.
“I am grateful to the community for taking the time out of their busy day to exercise their right to vote,” Superintendent of Schools Tammy Mangus said. “This budget will continue to support the programs and staff that mold our students into confident, life-ready citizens who are prepared to do great things.”
