Mrs. Furey’s second- grade class at the George L. Cooke Elementary School wrapped up their last writing unit by writing five-paragraph opinion essays trying to convince first graders to read books in the second-grade libraries.
Mr. Fountain and Mrs. Davila’s first-grade classes stopped by to hear the essays. If the first grader was convinced that the book was worth a listen, the second grader then read the book as well. Before leaving, first graders had the opportunity to ask the second-grade experts questions about their upcoming year.
