Annual Enforcement Report: Personal Electronic Devices

In the 2025-26 school year, the Monticello Central School District adopted policy 5695, which restricts student use of cell phones and/or other personal electronic devices throughout the school day.  

In accordance with Education Law §2803, beginning Sept. 1, 2026, the district will publish an annual report summarizing disciplinary actions related to student device use across demographics, analysis of any potential disparities, and if, applicable, a mitigation plan to address any disparities.

Implementation Summary 

Based on this data, no disparity among any demographic groups was identified, therefore no mitigation action plan is necessary.  

Conclusion  

The district will continue to monitor disciplinary data, as well as staff, family, and student feedback to ensure that the policy continues to foster student learning, reduce distractions, and foster a positive learning environment.
