District placed on brief lockout due to unrelated police activity in the area

During the afternoon of Tuesday, August 22, local law enforcement agencies informed district administrators of a criminal investigation underway in the vicinity of the High School campus. Out of an abundance of caution, all Monticello Central School District village buildings were placed on a lockout as the criminal investigation unfolded. After approximately one hour, the lockout was lifted in consultation with law enforcement.

To the best of our knowledge, the incident was unrelated to the school district and did not involve any staff or students. An investigation of that area of campus by local law enforcement found no weapons or other contraband.

Staff and student safety is always the district’s top priority, and we are grateful to our local law enforcement agencies for their support and communication.
