The third annual Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Summit, on Jan. 12, 2024, was attended by 25 Monticello High School juniors and seniors. The summit took place at the Hurleyville Performing Arts Center was sponsored by Sullivan180 and showcased opportunities for student involvement in their communities; to enrich their lives and the lives of people around them.  Motivational speaker Duncan Kirkwood delivered a powerful message to students from the Kingean philosophy of taking action. He built off his recent tour of Sullivan County schools delivering a message of resilience and tenacity. All students who attended received a copy of his book Rerouting: Resilience Tools and Tactics. Students from schools all over Sullivan county attended the event and networked with each other and many local non-profits and community organizations. Students left empowered and equipped to be difference makers.
