KLR students know communication is a key to academic success

June 7, 2018

Each May, Better Hearing and Speech Month (BHSM) provides an opportunity to raise awareness about communication disorders and the role of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) members - speech-language pathologists/audiologists - in providing life-altering treatment for children and adults. The six winners of the contest hold their certificates and good bags. At KLR, daily speech and language trivia contests were played with the KLR staff, and information was shared regarding the relationship of communication skills and academic success.

A poster contest was held for our speech students to celebrate what they work on when they attend speech therapy. Each student was asked to complete the sentence: “My speech language pathologist helps me… “ by writing how participating in speech/language therapy helps them with certain skills and then illustrated what that looks like when they are working on target skills.

The winners of the Better Speech and Hearing Month Poster Contest at KLR received a certificate and a bag filled with summer goodies. They are pictured here, from left to right, with Mrs. Nicolette and Mrs. Zanger:
