Monticello High School presents annual spring concert

Parts one and two to be performed May 7 and 8 respectively and are open to the public

The Monticello High School Performing Arts Department will perform its annual Spring Concert Parts One and Two on Monday, May 7, and Tuesday, May 8.

The Part One concert will be held at Nesin Theater, 22 St. John's St., Monticello, on Monday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. Part One will feature solo instrumentalists along with small chamber ensembles (upperclassmen). The Senior Strings will play "Transylvania Tango" and a string trio will perform a Baroque piece. The Chamber Singers, directed by Marissa Jurow, will perform "My Spirit Sang All Day” by Gerald Finzi, "Earth Song” by Frank Ticheli and "Elijah Rock” by Moses Hogan.

The Part 2 concert will be held at the Arnold Packer Hughs Auditorium at Monticello High School, 39 Breakey Ave., Monticello, on Tuesday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. The Jazz Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Chorus and Orchestra programs will perform, as well as a combined full Symphonic Orchestra.

The High School Orchestra, directed by Nancy Wegrzyn, will be performing two string-only pieces and Beethoven's 5th Symphony as a full Symphonic Orchestra.

The Concert Band, directed by Andrew Verdino, will combine the Wind Ensemble and Concert Band to perform the Senior Medley, "A Disney Spectacular,” with a group of 84 students.

The Concert Choir, directed by Marissa Jurow and accompanied by John Bernstein, will perform "Ave Verum Corpus” by W.A. Mozart in collaboration with string instruments.
