No cabin fever at E.B. Crawford Library

Jan. 11, 2018

There is so much to do at the library this month. Grab some friends and check out the activities being held to make sure January ends and February begins on a fun-filled note.

Registration is required for all activities listed as space is limited, unless otherwise noted. To register, or for more information, call 845-794-4660 ext. 5. To see a full list of library programs, visit or follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter @ebcplibrary. The Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library is located at 479 Broadway in Monticello. All library programs are free and open to the public.

Have you heard of the escape room craze sweeping the nation? Our breakout games for teens and kids have been such a hit that we have to do multiple sessions to keep up with the waitlist. An escape game consists of puzzles, clues, and other problem-solving exercises that kids will work together to solve before the clock runs out.
Join us on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 4 p.m. for our teen game (ages 12-18) called “A Case of the Mondays.”
The kid’s game will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, in two sessions: 4 and 5 p.m.

This month, our homeschool program will be hosting a book club. This isn’t your ordinary book club. Snacks and cocoa will be provided and student will discuss their favorite or most recent read. We will all be talking about different books, so who knows, you might discover a new favorite book or genre.
This program will take place on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 11:30 a.m. This program gives home schooled students a chance to share their work and ideas with their peers and community. All ages are invited to attend and participate at their own level.

Using only LEGO bricks and imagination, kids ages 6 through 12 are invited to complete a monthly building challenge. The Construction Club meets on the last Monday of each month, this month on Monday, Jan. 29 at 4:30 p.m. Their sculptures will be displayed in the library until the next construction club program. Past challenges have included boats that can float, bridges, flags, blindfolded challenges, single color builds, and so much more.

Join us on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 12 p.m. for another great event sponsored by the Friends of Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library. We will read stories about animals in winter, make pinecone bird feeders, drink cocoa and have snacks. This will be a great family event and all are invited.
Registration is encouraged but not required for this event.
