Program for teens who want a career in sports offered

A message from the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library:

The Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library in Monticello is offering a series of free programs for teens called, “So You Want to Work in Sports.” Every Monday at 5 p.m. until August 8, a speaker, or panel of speakers, will visit the library to talk to teens about their job.

The series kicked off on July 11 with sports journalists, including Mary Remy of Runner’s World magazine, and Kevin Gleason, sports editor for the Times Herald Record. The series will continue on July 18 with Suzanne Meier, RD. Meier is a registered dietitian and nutritionist. She will talk about why a healthy diet is especially important for athletes, and the type of education and training needed to become a nutritionist.

Guests in the following weeks will include coaches, personal trainers and a physical therapist, and athletes. There is no registration for this program. For more information, call the library at 845-794-4660.
