Important dates for the 2018-19 school year

Below is an overview of important dates for the upcoming school year. The full school calendar will be available online over the summer and one printed copy will be mailed out to each district family prior to the beginning of the school year.

September:

4: Conference Day (no school for students)
5: Opening day for students
10: Rosh Hashannah (closed)

October:
8: Columbus Day (closed)
22: Conference Day (no school for students)

November:
12: Veterans’ Day Observed (closed)
21-23 Thanksgiving Recess (closed)

December:
24-31: Winter Recess (closed)

January:
1: Winter Recess (closed)
21: Martin Luther King Day (closed)
22-25 Regents Exams

February:
15: Conference Day (no school for students)
18: Presidents’ Day (closed)

March: None

April:
1-8: 3-8 ELA Assessments*
15-19: Spring Recess
30: 3-8 Math Assessments Begin*

May:
1-7: 3-8 Math Assessments Continue*
22-31: 4 & 8 Science Assessments*
27: Memorial Day

June:
3: Grades 4&8 Science Written Exams/Regents Day
18-25 Regents Exams
25: Last Day of School
26: Conference Day (no school for students)

*NYS exam dates indicated are a “testing window.” Students are not tested every day. Some students will use a computer-based platform for tests.

Take-back days:
If the district has used more than seven days by Feb. 1, President’s Day will become a student day to allow and 11th emergency closure day.

If all days have been used before spring break, we will begin taking back on Monday, April 15 and continue forward on the calendar until all days are extinguished.

Give-back days:
Give back days will be allotted as follows:
1 day: 4/22
2 days: 4/22 and 4/12
3 days: 4/22, 4/12 and 5/24
4 days: 4/22, 4/23, 4/12 and 5/24
