Cooke implements cafeteria incentive program Students build with blocks during lunch time to keep noise down

Oct. 13, 2016This year the school implemented a cafeteria incentive program

This year, the George L. Cooke Elementary School implemented new incentives for the cafeteria. The class or classes who follow the school’s cafeteria expectations will earn a tally on their class chart posted in the cafeteria.

When they have earned their 5 days of tallies they will earn popcorn to eat during “Movie Friday” at the cafeteria.

Believing that busy hands helps create busy mines, the school cafeteria staff displays bins of puzzles, blocks, coloring books and crafts to play with after students have finished eating. Staff have noted that these 20-30 minutes of occupied time during lunch has reduced the amount of noise and behavioral problems exhibited during lunch periods.
