Summer Reading at the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library

June 29, 2016

A Message from the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library:

The Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library has an exciting summer reading program. Sign-ups for the summer reading program are under way, and activities will start Tuesday, July 5. There will be a variety of activities for kids and teens of all ages.

The 2016 summer theme for kids is “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read.” We will have story times and book clubs for kids in pre-k through 5th grade, weekly crafts and movies, and a variety of special programs each week. There will also be four special performances on July 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 5 p.m. Tickets will be available one week before each performance, and are given out on a first come first served basis. For more information, call the library.

There is an exciting lineup of programs for teens. The teen theme is “Get in the Game: Read.” We will offer a teen led book discussion, battle of the books practice, and a fun program every Thursday, including library CSI, a poetry slam, Chocolate Games, and more. If that’s not enough, on Monday nights at 5 p.m., different professionals who work in the sports industry will speak at the library about what their job is, and how they got it. Speakers include sports journalists, trainers, nutritionists, coaches, and athletes.
All summer reading participants will have the opportunity to win great prizes, ranging from a pair of tickets to New York Comic Con, signed New York Giants and Jets posters, book sets, and a chance to pie a librarian.

Registration is required for some programs. For more information and to learn about our full lineup of programs, call 845-794-4660 ext. 8, visit the library website at, like us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter and Instagram (@ebcplibrary).
