G.L. Cooke Elementary School: Healthy Teeth, Healthy Child

Feb. 17, 2016

On Jan. 15, PRASAD Children’s Dental Health Program (CDHP) mobile dental clinic provided dental care to the students at the George L. Cooke Elementary School.

The nursing staff from Cooke Elementary would like to thank Principal Johnson-Fields, Assistant Principal Romano and PRASAD for working to ensure that children in our community have proper dental care.

Over 51 million school hours are lost each year due to the pain of dental problems.

The 2009-2011 New York State Oral Health Indicators show that 53 percent of students in third grade in Sullivan County have untreated cavities. Tooth decay can cause pain and infections that lead to difficulty with eating, speaking, playing and learning.

Since 1998, PRASAD CDHP has addressed the dental needs of children from six months through 18 years of age, in Sullivan County in New York. Children receive dental health education in their schools and all necessary preventative and restorative dental care in the mobile dental clinic.
