District introduces updated instructional technology page

"New" page provides resources for parents and students

October 2, 2015

When parents and students are visiting the district website, they may notice some changes on the technology page. Now entitled, "Instructional Technology," content on the page is now focused on how best to help parents access important information related to technology being used by students in the classroom, and how to access information about their students in the most efficient way possible.

"Technology is evolving at such a fast pace, and it is important that our parents know how to access information about their students and issues related to the school district, as well as share information about what technology their children are using in the classroom," Executive Director of Technology Shelley Rossetti said. "We have simplified content on the instructional technology page in hopes that our parents will find it a useful resource."

The newly updated page focuses primarily on parent communication, including:

School Messenger - an automated parent notification system that provides the ability to generate telephone and/or email notifications to families. Please contact your child's school if you need to update contact information.

SchoolTool Parent Portal - SchoolTool is the District’s student management system.  The Parent Portal allows parents to access their child(ren)'s grades, attendance, schedule, and other data.  Parent Portal activation is a ONE TIME event.  Once you have a parent portal account it is active for the duration your child(ren) attends school in Monticello.

While your student is enrolled in the school district, parents will have access to Microsoft for download at home. The district is in the process of finalizing set up at this time. More information will be forthcoming.

Remind - Remind is a text messaging system used by some teachers. Your student's teacher will provide instructions about how to sign up if they choose to utilize this form of communication.

In addition, the page highlights technology in the classroom and will provide the latest news regarding instructional technology in schools.

Parents and students are encouraged to visit to learn more! Please contact your child's principal if you have questions directly related to technology your child(ren) is currently using in the classroom.
