KLR will host Family Fun Night to showcase Math & Movement program

Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary School families: join us for Family Fun Night on Wednesday, Nov. 30. (snowdate Thursday, Dec. 1) at 5:30 p.m.  During Family Fun Night, students and their families will enjoy a pasta dinner, before hopping, skipping and crawling their way to improved math skills with the Math & Movement program – a nationally-acclaimed program that KLR is introducing into the classroom this year.

The Math & Movement program incorporates movement, and visuals to make learning fun, active and memorable. Research shows that combining physical activity with learning leads to better engagement and increased retention while also promoting an active lifestyle. The Math & Movement program uses specially-designed floor mats and banners to keep students moving, while learning about math concepts. At the Family Fun Night event, parents and students will have the chance to experience the program – moving from station to station and completing a Math & Movement activity guide.
