Important message from the superintendent

Sunday, June 2, 2019

It is with immense sadness that we join the Monticello community in mourning the unexpected death of a Monticello High School student and a former RJK Middle School student, the result of an automobile accident. A third student was injured.

The district is working with Sullivan County BOCES and will have a support team of social workers and school psychologists available at both Monticello High School and RJK Middle School to help our students deal with this tremendous tragedy. It is natural for students to display a variety of emotions as they cope with their grief. Always know that parents as well as students may contact the district if they are in need of support.

When an event of this magnitude touches our community, it affects us all.

Our condolences and thoughts go out to the families of these students and their friends.

Tammy Mangus

Monticello Central School District Superintendent
