Get Well, Win $500

Superintendent Mangus is challenging all Panthers to enter the 2019-20 school year as a healthier version of themselves. All staff and students of Monticello Central School District are invited to participate in the #BeWellMonti challenge for a chance at the $500 grand prize.

How to Play:

  1. Commit to a healthier lifestyle — this will look different for everyone. For some, this may mean being more active. For others, this may mean eating more vegetables. And for others, it may mean getting an extra hour of sleep. Take some time to assess where you can improve your own, or your family’s, health.
  2. Post at least 10 times per month on your public Twitter account using the hashtag #BeWellMonti AND #BWMStaff or #BWMStudent. Need some inspiration? Follow @WhyMontiRocks on Twitter or search #BeWellMonti to join the conversation.
  3. Each month, Ms. Mangus will pick one student and one staff member as that month’s “Wellness Winner.” To be eligible to be a Wellness Winner, you must have made at least 10 posts in the previous month AND used the correct hashtags in the post. Remember that if you’re not using #BeWellMonti AND #BWMStaff OR #BWMStudent, we can’t track your post.
  4. On the first day of the 2019-20 school year, Ms. Mangus will put all Wellness Winners’ names into a hat and draw one name at random to win the $500 grand prize.

What should I post about?

Anything that shows your journey to health! Some Panthers post pictures of the scenery they see while they’re out being active, or a healthy recipe, or a tidbit of motivation that has helped them reach their goals.

Can I participate without posting on Twitter?

The goal of the #BeWellMonti challenge is to build a culture of health at Monticello. One way to do just that is to keep the conversation going about healthy habits. The intent of this challenge is to start a two-way conversation in the community about health, which is why we have chosen to host the challenge on Twitter. You may sign up for a free Twitter account by visiting Alternately, you may send 10 photos and captions each month in one email to with your name and contact information and we will publish them on Twitter on your behalf.

Can parents participate?

Yes! Parents and/or guardians are encouraged to lead their children in making healthy changes, and may post on their child’s behalf. However, the student must be involved in any of the healthy activities pictured.

Can I participate if I am not a staff member, student or parent?

We hope that everyone is inspired to make healthier life choices- anyone is welcome to follow along and participate in the #BeWellMonti challenge. However, only staff and current students (entering kindergarteners and graduating seniors are included) are eligible to win the $500 grand prize.
