The Monticello Interfaith Council, in cooperation with the Monticello Central School District, will host its 6th annual Monticello Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 23, from noon to 3:30 p.m. at the RJK Middle School Cafeteria in Monticello.
The meal is a non-denominational, inclusive event where everyone is invited to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal at no cost. Organized and served by volunteers, it brings people of diverse backgrounds together to celebrate community and give thanks. There will be music and fall activities. All are welcome. No registration is required.
“This is an opportunity to come together and celebrate community,” said Peter Kunz, chairperson of the Thanksgiving Meal Committee. “We’re excited to work together to make this community meal happen.”
The Thanksgiving Community Dinner committee is accepting monetary donations to assist with the purchase of paper products, tablecloths, decorations as well as to help cover the costs of the main food items being ordered: turkey, yams, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, gravy, etc. Donations by check should be made out to “Monticello Interfaith Council” and mailed to PO Box 222, Kiamesha Lake, NY 12751.
Volunteers are needed on the day of the event to decorate, set-up, assist in the kitchen, serve food, and clean up. Those interested in volunteering should visit the community meal Facebook page @MonticelloCommunityMeal where the link for volunteer sign-up is located. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (845)796-6444.
