Monticello Enrichment Program (MEP)

In the Monticello Central School District, every second, third, fourth, and fifth grade student receives a weekly enrichment lesson by the school’s MEP teacher.  During these lessons, the MEP teacher works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to help children explore ways they learn best. Also, at this time, the classroom teacher has the opportunity to more closely observe how their students use their intelligences to respond to challenges presented in the lesson.

Children learn in many different ways. The enrichment lessons are designed to help students explore various ways to solve problems by using music, language, math, art, movement and group activities. These are intelligences used by all people.

Imagine having to work in a small group with a road map of New York State that has been cut apart into puzzle pieces. Your challenge is to work with your teammates and put it back together. Or perhaps your challenge is to learn to recite various poems to musical beats. These are just a few ways that children explore their intelligences through MEP activities.

The following teachers are district MEP teachers:

  • Catherine Woods
    MEP Teacher, George L. Cooke/Emma C. Chase

  • Martha Landau
    MEP Teacher, Kenneth L. Rutherford

  • Marianne Harden
    MEP Teacher, Cornelius Duggan
